A new research calls into question accepted theories about consciousness. According to the Orch OR theory, which was developed by Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose, quantum activities in brain microtubules are the source of consciousness. Quantum mechanics' complexity and lack of supporting data led to the previous rejection of this theory. New experiments, however, are fascinating. Studies employing brain organoids offer additional insights, and they imply that anaesthesia affects quantum effects in the brain. These findings raise the possibility that consciousness has a quantum component, though a direct link has not yet been established. The understanding of consciousness and the intersection of the quantum and biological domains is becoming more accessible thanks to this research.
